345 Samhain and the Change of Seasons with Jenny Mulak and Beth Carestia of The Goddess Party

Today I got to sit down with two of the Goddesses from The Goddess Party, Jenny Mulak and Beth Carestia. We talk about the turn of the seasons and what arises for us as we move through Autumn into the dark of Winter. Other topics on the show today, piercing the veil, Samhain meaning and rituals, Goddesses, Divine Feminine, ancestors, tarot and archetypes. Get your tickets for the next The Goddess Party performance on November 1st at Basillica Hudson before they’re gone…

Jenny Mulak is a healer, a problem solver, an herbalist, flower practitioner and energy worker, a writer, a recovering rule follower, and a curious student of spiritual teachings.  Jenny is the founder, alchemist and earth steward behind Cosmic Mother – a botanical skincare and herbal potions line – handcrafted with plants from her garden and local farms. She is delighted to make her home in Shokan, NY with her partner, Ariel, and their two rescue pups.

It is here that she recovered from her years of corporate life – where she was good at her job as a program manager, but never satisfied as she wasn’t even close to being aligned with her life’s purpose.  As she continues to strip away years of programming and societal and familial conditioning, the plants support her every step of the way.

Nature has been Jenny’s greatest teacher and healer.  She is passionate about sharing with others how living in harmony with the cycles of Nature can connect us back to ourselves and the embrace of the cosmos and Mother Earth.

Beth Carestia has been living in the Kingston area for over a decade and has come to love our sweet community. She’s a proud Rosendale Ukulele Group member and an O+ alum with The Goddess Party. Most recently she hosted the O+ Comedy show, a major personal highlight. Also know as a local Tarot Reader and an all around shenanigan having woman, she brings joy wherever she goes.

305 Alana Connelly “From Grief to Joy”

Alana Connelly has been an intuitive her whole life, and studying the healing arts for over 25 years. She struggled to find her way after her husband passed in his early 40’s. Watching someone you love more than life itself leave this world leaves an indescribable pain and loss. After allowing herself the time to feel the overwhelming sadness, she found herself in Bali in a yoga teacher training that didn’t go as planned, but it allowed her to reconnect with herself and eventually pursue a path of helping others by opening her own wellness center,  a non-profit bakery to support local women, and a women’s artisan co-op. While some projects failed, others succeeded but brought up questions about her life’s purpose, who she is, including a lot of self doubt and uncertainties. She found herself sitting with more hurt, anger, sadness and pain, but she knew it was the only way through. She’s now living a life that she enjoys and has found happiness again. As a registered vet tech for over 28 years, she’s now pursuing a PhD program in clinical psychology with a focus on mind, body and spirit with the hope that she will help others find the joy in life no matter what happens.

Today she shares about allowing herself to sit in the sadness, the hurt, and pain in order to really move through the grief, how a yoga teacher training changed her life and taught her about how the other side of fear is freedom. She’s living that freedom today despite life’s ups and downs, practicing letting go of expectations and loving herself unconditionally.

Alana recently contributed to a book titled Do More Stupid Things, a book that celebrates those who dare to live outside the lines. These stories will remind you that taking risks and self belief are the key ingredients to magic and miracles. It’s not easy to go against the grain, but as you’ll see in this book, it offers huge rewards for the brave ones willing to “do stupid things.”

252 End of the Year Tarot with Marielena Ferrer

Wanting to end the year on a high note, we talk about what the end of the year means and one or two ideas on how to step into the new year. Marielena walks us through what the Tarot reveals to her in the moment as we contemplate the beginning of 2023. Inspired by my weekly chat with Warren and Manuel we revisit the subject of confidence vs. questioning. A favorite quote to sum up that part of the conversation, “Wise people are full of doubt, but the idiots are completely sure.”

Have a fabulous New Year, and let us know if you have something you do to transition into the New Year, or any topic you’d like us to cover next year!

Today’s bonus conversation with Warren and Manuel is about awkward moments.

242 Kissey Asplund “Generation Watts” and the Circle Creative Collective “LUMINOUS”

Kissey Asplund of Generation Watts works as a creative consultant specializing in the process of generation and creative subatomic energy. Her creativity expresses itself as a music producer, generator, multi-disciplinary artist, and meditator based in New York City. Amongst other things, today we talk deeply about her unique background, how her creativity is enhanced through meditation, and we get to experience a sound meditation titled Embrace Yourself. Kissey will be at the O+ Festival this weekend, Saturday, October 8th at 7pm at the Good Work Insitute offering: Access Your Connection & Blossom Your Inner Creativity which is a guided meditation where you can experience stillness, deeper connection with self, inner empowerment, and presence—through easy, gentle movements and simple breath techniques. These modalities are used to relax into the body and activate a deeper state of meditation, well-being, and inner creativity. The meditation will oscillate between deeper moments of stillness and release, with moments of building empowerment (inner energy). You can do the class sitting, standing, or lying down. A soundtrack written by Kissey will support your meditation.

Circle Creative Collective and their upcoming event, LUMINOUS.

LUMINOUS is a powerful celebration of the thinning of the veil between worlds, gifting us a unique way to honor our ancestors, the beloved departed, and even aspects of ourselves that we may have buried. Through story, song, community, a journey into the earth and our own hearts, LUMINOUS is a beautiful balm that will help bring light to these coming darker months of introspection.

It is a celebration of life, by honoring grief, impermanence, and the wisdom of the unseen world. Together with BLOOM, this second offering of hope and healing completes an important story of life’s most essential cycles of birth and death. At the heart of LUMINOUS are gifts shared to find light in the dark through re/connection and song. LUMINOUS is a living reminder that we are held by nature, love and magic, and that we hold the alchemizing, transformative powers of creativity.

Happening at 5 and 8pm on October 29th & 30th LUMINOUS will take you into the cavernous heart of the Earth through contemplative story and song. This exquisite interactive experience will remind us that even in the coldest, darkest times we are held by beauty, that we are magic, and that each of us can be a light in the dark.

Today I have the honor of speaking with Shulamit Elson, and we begin the show hearing about her experience in losing her daughter to leukemia just over a year ago and how she moved through the tremendous grief of this experience. This flows into a conversation about Shulamit’s own journey into finding her soul’s purpose and the healing sounds that form the basis of her work today.  She is the creator of MediSounds Meditation, and the Director of MediSounds, as well as the founder of The Great Octave Foundation.
