#142 Gemma Calinda “Caring Majority Rising”

Gemma Calinda is an Advocate for People with Developmental Disabilities who is currently working as a field organizer for Caring Majority Rising, a political movement of seniors, people with disabilities, family caregivers, and domestic and home care workers. At the age of 16, Gemma was diagnosed with progressive Multiple Sclerosis in the midst of a flourishing athletic career. She is currently confined to a wheelchair, and her mobility is limited. In addition, the multiple sclerosis has caused her to be legally blind. Even with all of the adversity M.S. has dealt Gemma, she has a Masters in Business and remains courageous, hopeful and an inspiration to all.

Today, Gemma shares her “Care Story,” talks to us about MS and what it does to your body, how it started for her and the challenges she’s faced since her diagnosis.

Then we jump into why she’s working for Caring Majority Rising, what they do and how you can get involved! Tonight they’re hosting a fundraiser, but you can always get involved and volunteer by reaching out via their website.

Today’s show was engineered by Nick Panken of Freedom Highway on Radio Kingston.

Our show music is from Shana Falana !!!  Sorry, you don’t get to hear Gemma’s playlist because we don’t have the rights!
