#172 Ella Ray Kondrat and Jesse Scherer “Music, Love and Healing”

Ella Ray is a Kingston NY-based performer who completed her debut full-length album, Hum to Your Heart, released in August of 2019. Her self-generated genre blends her background in Eastern European acapella arrangements with the beauty of Cat Power and the heartache of Mazzy Star. Her preternatural voice sings over innovative acoustic chord structure as she details her romantic and sexual trials with painful memories of her past, vocalizing a strength which is tangible in her transformative music.

Also joining today’s conversation is Ella’s biggest fan and partner, Jesse Scherer, massage therapist and super volunteer who supports organizations like the O+ Festival and Health Care is a Human Right.

Today we talked about Ella’s creative process and stepping into her own as a solo musician, healing, Jesse’s thoughts on volunteering, love, heartache, relationships, and surviving COVID.

We listened to “Bringing Myself Back Home,” “Hum to Your Heart,” “i married Columbus,” and “Do You Mind” by Ella Ray Kondrat.

Today’s show was engineered by Ian Seda of Radio Kingston.

Our show music is from Shana Falana !!!

#144 Hope and Healing with Reiki Master Lorry Salluzzi

Seems like a good day to focus on hope and healing. Allow me to introduce Lorry Salluzzi who is a stress management therapist, Lupus survivor, psychic medium, Reiki master, healer and teacher. She was diagnosed with Systemic Lupus in 1988 when her doctor could not be sure she would live through the night. Medications saved her, but she was not getting any better. Through the practice of Reiki and Guided Imagery Meditation, she achieved full remission 2 years later and has had no evidence of the disease since 1990. Her doctor still sends her patients as do many other practitioners in the allopathic and holistic fields. She has had success with many chronic health challenges such as cancer, depression, pain, migraine, Lupus, chronic fatigue, Epstein-Barr, etc. Lorry believes that Reiki and Meditation will change your life in a positive way by managing stress before a disease can occur. And the amazing thing is Reiki is something you can do for yourself whenever you need a little love!

I think it’s important to mention that Lorry’s story is not meant to imply that if you are suffering from some illness that it’s your fault, that you haven’t done enough. Some things are just simply out of your control. Her story and her work is meant to empower you to take positive steps for your own wellbeing if that’s something that resonates with you. Tune in to hear Lorry’s wild journey into Reiki and be inspired into hope for whatever it is you’re needing to call into your life.

Here’s a direct link to Lorry’s offerings on her Patreon page.

Today’s show was engineered by Nick Panken of Freedom Highway on Radio Kingston.

Our show music is from Shana Falana !!! and we heard “Everyone’s Gonna Be Okay” by Shana as well as “Devi Ma” by Mother Medicine.

A Washington native, Morgan spent five years as part of the Seattle Indy film scene as an actor and director and was also a Burlesque Performer and Emcee. After the unexpected death of her father, Morgan lived as a nomad and became a Certified Contemporary Shamanic Practitioner and Yogi. Now relocated to the Hudson Valley, Morgan most recently worked as Head of Production at InsideRisk LLC and part of the core content team, overseeing the development of an interactive television series as well as live multi-media events throughout the world focused on fostering critical thinking. Her recently released web series, TABS AND CLEA, marks her first project as a writer, actor, director and producer since the passing of her father in 2010.

Meg Affonso is an intuitive artist, actor, choreographer, writer, producer & director; she is a gifted storyteller who has the performing arts ingrained in her soul. Meg has performed in a variety of theatrical productions, ranging from musical theatre to dramatic plays. Meg has studied various forms of dance throughout her life and has performed in film, web series productions, commercials & television. Meg has written two screenplays & a stage play and continues to be open to art in all of its forms. Meg’s mission is to tell stories that matter & to help others by introducing them to art as a multifaceted healing modality. She is one of the cast of Tabs & Clea and has an upcoming performance show titled, BODY, happening at the Albany Center Gallery the next three consecutive Sundays. Morgan directed the short film which will be a part of the performance.

Tabs & Clea: Tabs, a psychic who has dedicated her life to helping people, has fallen into a crisis of faith.  When her audacious ex-roommate, Clea, unexpectedly shows up and demands to know why Tabs has stopped using her gift, Tabs is forced to face and discover the truth of a tragedy she did not foresee.

BODY: Sundays, August 2, 9, & 16, from [2:00] – 4:00 p.m. — Meg Affonso and Albany Center Gallery present BODY, an experiential and immersive art installation that explores the sacred connection between the body and the soul that exists in each individual. The public is invited to attend free of charge (ages 12 & up, content not suitable for small children). Signing up in advance is recommended to reserve a spot, but walk-ins are accepted if there is available room. Do so here: http://www.eventbrite.com/e/body-tickets-112398521002 Shows are filling up!

The elements of BODY include: three short dance/dialogue-based films, live sculpture + movement, an immersive audience experience, collective artistic creation, photography, and movement labs and release through writing that will be transformed into physical art that represents rebirth. BODY is inspired by the poem “I Sing the Body Electric” by Walt Whitman and also by the current events in today’s world. BODY is representative of the struggles that individuals face from birth through death and the beauty that exists in between all of the difficulties. BODY is an examination of our ego, prejudices, biases and the truth of what we can be if we choose to grow and live our soul’s truth. This piece is a collective experience for the community not just by telling a story, but also by encouraging art as a path to the healing and joy that we can all experience no matter our backgrounds or beliefs.

Today we talk about being storytellers, relationships, their work, ego and women in TV and film. Lots of fun, lots of laughs too!

And here’s the previous show with Maria we mentioned!

#104 Joanne Leffeld, the Moolah Doula on “Healing Our Relationship with Money”

Welcome to Season 3!!!

Today, my guest is Joanne Leffeld, more famously known as the “Moolah Doula.” She’s worn many roles in her life including certified financial planner, mom, yoga teacher, artist, hospice volunteer, business partner in a lighting design company and more recently an end of life doula. She’s had her share of ups and downs but believes there’s always an opportunity to birth a new life, and she helps people do that through the lens of understanding their relationship to money. She can relate to the full range of emotions the discussion of money provokes and helps people overcome their fear of birthing their new financial life. And that’s why she’s the @moolahdoula

Today, we got into A LOT! The importance of your first memory of money, learning what you value, learning how to value yourself, navigating the money talk with a partner, the importance of communication, honesty, how to work with your inner child, the fear of not having enough money, yoga and listening to your inner wisdom. Joanne’s work feels like a gift to me, both on a personal level, but also in how it is the seed of potential in healing the problems that money causes in our world. Thank you for your work Joanne!

Today’s show was engineered by Maddy Bogner of Radio Kingston, http://www.radiokingston.org.
